The Vancouver Museum (Planetarium) has crowned their building with glaring arc lamps. Responsible builders are fighting light pollution with amber lighting and proper shielding.
How can a publically subsidized facility be so insensitive?
The amateur astronomers at the observatory next door can't be too impressed, and I am frankly furious. The planetarium has helped people appreciate the night sky, but they have no right to replace it . . .
Please - if anyone out there has influence at City Hall or is a Vancouver Museum donor - ask them to reconsider this eyesore. Perhaps they simply didn't think about it.

It was art! Popular too.... sometimes the wait was over 90mins to get a design in.

Plenty of people enjoyed taking pics... check flickr.

I'm not sure what the cost was, so it would be hard to say if it was a waste of money. It had definitely had "value".
