Would you eat from a sidewalk vendor?
Last week 3 hot dog vendors were closed for a day by the city, citing no hot water (for cleaning) and improper food handling (raw food not refridgerated, on the floor etc)
Have you ever bought from them? Was it good? Any ill effects?

I have eaten many a hot dog over the years from the vendors on Granville & Robson Street. I have never had ill effects from the food. I loved the smokies and well worth the 5 dollars for smokie and pop.

For hot food — never. The combination of high prices and questionable food handling practices make them totally unattractive.
For frozen products, I have occasionally given in to temptation but, in general, it’s usually less than a block or two to a real store — where prices are often substantially lower.

In theory I like the idea of street vendors with lots of cool delicacies to offer, but in reality, I never eat out at all. I follow a strictly Vegan diet & prepare absolutely everything I eat from scratch, at home or over my fire when camping.
